Designing for a younger audience or for playful adults is my sweet spot. When creating this puzzle project, I was thrilled that both children and adults could interact with it. The final piece comes with model cards that you can follow, but the amount and variety of pieces also allow users to create new characters.

DESIGN PROCESS

1. THE CHARACTERS

The characters used are my take on typical mythological characters that I grew up listening to their tales and myths. I decided to use plexiglass because it is a perfect material to achieve the vibrant, almost neon-like colors found in Peruvian culture. Also, the transparency allows the mixture of colors to make new shades that give depth to the puzzle and creates the illusion of a more complex puzzle.

2. LASER CUTTING

Plexiglass has the vibrant hues I needed to pair with the project because Peruvian colors are commonly very saturated. Laser cutting requires file prepping to be able to get the shapes of the pieces of the puzzle right.
